Art Exhibit At the Sweet Palette

We made it down to fourth Friday last week, and it was great. I had heard about a Rob Robbers art exhibit and wanted to check it out. It was really a fun evening. It was held in the gallery area of the cupcake shoppe on Person st. in the circle, The Sweet Palette. Really cool little shoppe, they had Tyler King playing acoustical guitar. the shoppe had a really great atmosphere and the music was great. We had just eaten and I was too full to have anything more than coffee which was really good (they get their coffee from my favourite coffee roaster Jaun at The Cumberland Coffee Rosters in Hope Mills.) Sharon did get one of their cheesecake bites. She said it was very good. Just the right size so as not to make you feel guilty for eating the whole slice of cheesecake.

So here are just some shots I made while there.

Yes, I did take most of these sitting at my table, I do plan to go back down there one evening before they take the show down and get some more. I will add them when I get them. the paintings were really cool. The artist had a real unique take on some famous people, like Edgar Allan Poe, Humphry Bogart, and Audrey Hepburn to name a few. Very interesting. I liked it. You should if you get a chance, go down and check the gallery out, and get a great cup of coffee.

Here are a couple of other shots made the same night.

Here is a few of shots my wife took:

Sun Rise through The Market House

This event only happens twice a year, On Nov 11 and Jan 29. You can get the shots the day either side of those days. But the optimum days are the 11th and 29th. The famous shot, of the sun rising through the arches of the Market House here in Fayetteville, was taken by Johnny Horne of the Fayetteville Observer. Since that shot appeared people have come in the early hours of the morning to make their own iconic photo. This morning was no different, as the sun began to rise the excitement in the little crowd of photographers rose, and shutters whirled. Yes, I was down there also in the mix, well at least at the fringes. I had decided that while this is a great photo, that I would concentrate more on the people who came to capture it. So here are my images from this morning.

Sharon even got caught up in the excitement.

I also did some in color:

Thought this was a cool shot of Sharon's phone with the Market House in focus.

Johnny Horne was in attendance, perhaps watching a student from his Fundamentals of Digital Photography class.

Well, of course I didn't go all the way down there this morning and not get a shot of the show.

Sharon and I got down there this morning about 0645 or so, and I had time to get a couple of shots of the Market House and this one light pole's shadow that Sharon pointed out to me.

This was a great time and I am glad that I made it downtown for it. I plan to be there again at the Nov. and Jan. next year events.

OK IT GOT COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was12 degrees yesterday and for some reason, I didn't think to go downtown to get photos of the frozen fountains. This is kind, of a rare occurrence. It will only get cold enough to freeze the fountains a couple of times a year. So this morning after dropping Sharon off at work it was about 0645 and still dark. I decided to head down and get some night and twilight shots. So here they are, I decided to post the color and B&W of some of the images. The B&W only pictures really didn't have any color to speak of so just B&W for them

Ok, a couple more.

Date Night

Yes, Sharon(my lovely wife)and I have a date night at least once a month if not more. We went downtown to the Off The Hook Taco Emporium( that will be another Post.) After dinner we went to the CAMEO Art House, our local theater downtown that has been restored and is really cool. They have started bring music to the theater on the first Thursday of the month. It is a great little theater for the small groups feels very intimate. Last night Al Petteway and Amy White play a concert, they were great. Here are a couple from the show:

this next just playing with the sepia

This last was Al's shadow on the screen and I just had to take it.

As we got in the car tho head down town Sharon noticed how the Moon was coming through the clouds. I grabbed the camera and started to shoot. Here is the best of them.

I am having a little trouble with noise in my higher ISO pictures. I was only shooting at 800 ISO last night and got a lot of grain. I cleaned it up as much as I could in Light Room but still not happy with it. Anyone that has any ideas to fix thisI would love to hear them.
