New Place For Coffee (new for me)

Well, this morning I went bopping over to my usual morning workspace at Cumberland Coffee Roasters and found it closed. Not sure why, probably something to do with the school closing and the kids being home. I can understand that. But it left me with a quandary. Where do I hang out and do the work I was planning, and more importantly where do I get a good cup of coffee. So I ventured off the beaten path to a little shop out toward Rockfish, Detour Coffee House. I had been here a few times before for some meet ups and remembered that their coffee was good. I was not disappointed, I got a cup of the Sumatra and it was very good. I like the atmosphere also, kind of a mix of warm setting with a modern flare. So that is where I am, thought I would share a few shots of the place while I am here:

I set out this morning to finish the images that I made yesterday in our "SnowStorm". After tedious manipulating and tweaking, here is what I have done.

FYI Detour has a great Chi Latte also....=o)

Another Snowy Day in Fayetteville

Well, the snowstorm that is all over the south came to Fayetteville NC, today. Of course, they closed the schools and everyone got too scared to drive more than 2 MPH, don't know why they didn't just stay home if they are that scared. I did not venture to Walley World or the grocery stores, but I am sure there is not a loaf of bread or oz of milk left. So, can some tell me what do they do, make milk sandwiches?...lol. Anyway, I dropped Sharon off at work and headed downtown. I wanted to see how the Market House looked in the snow. I was doing great, got there with no problem, found a great parking place and got my gear together. Didn't make it more than 15 yards before I stepped in a slush puddle..ha... well, I was looking through the viewfinder and moving just a bit to frame a shot, and the rest is soggy history. It would not have been so bad in my boots but of course I had my deck shoes on.
The rest of the morning went great, got several good shots around Hay Street and then went to the Marquis Market for coffee. While I was there I worked on developing the photos. Becca a friend from our regular coffee shop was also downtown getting some snow shots and stopped by the Market for a bit. We compared notes on our shoots, and the snow. Well, here are the images that I have done.:

I have more shots to go through, but that is all I have developed so far. Will Post more Later.

Back in Charlotte this Weekend

A little cold today in Charlotte but not too bad. Sharon had a Multimedia workshop at Wingmaker Arts Collaborative, so I just did what I do. There was this church steeple that I had seen from the highway every time we would go to Charlotte and I always wanted to get over and shoot it. So, this time when I dropped A Sharon off I went and found it
Wow! much more that I expected. This place was a pretty impressive piece of architecture. I could see the steeple above the neighborhood I drove through to get there but not until I rounded the corner and I could see the complex was I aware of its true size. It is reminded me of a castle with the massive stonework. So was able to burn up a roll or two of film (figuratively). So much to shoot it may take a while to decide what all I want to develop. I did go over to Noda, to Smelly Cat Coffee shop and developed some of the shots. Here's whats done, as always I developed them in LR and PS.Some of these really lent themselves to the monochrome leaving one color.

That is what I have for tonight will work on the other photso of the church and NoDa tomorrow and get them up soon.

Trains, Icicles, and Fog Oh My !!

The fog rolled in like a gray-white wave blanketing the town in an eerie silence. The Light Stalker step on the platform to do the job he had come for. Now was the time and with a soft motorized click click it had begun.

Lol Ok a novelist I am not, justed wanted a different intro to today's entry. It was foggy this morning, couldn't see across the culdesac when I left to take Sharon to work. Driving was fine just slowed down and turned my lights on. Ok, what is it with people that think it is ok to drive around in pea soup fog with their lights off? Is it that they don't need their headlight to see because it is not dark? Well, hello the lights are so other drivers can see you coming. The worst offenders always seem to be white or gray cars, the ones you can't see. OK, I'll get off my soapbox( one of my Many Pet Peeves).
Anyway after dropping Sharon off I headed downtown to see what it looked like. I was hoping to catch the foggy streets with the street lamps on, but they were already off. So I headed to my old stand-by the train station. I figured I could make something happen there. So yall be the judge. I played around with some new (to me) pre-sets for LR with different effects.Hope you like.

Hopefully it will warm up and my bones will quit aching, so I can get out and around to some more out of the way places, Raven Rock was just suggested to me. I do want to get up there, soon hopefully.
